What financial resources are available?
Several financial resources are available to IRM students:
- Merit-Based Scholarships: The IRM program awards some merit-based scholarships to applicants for our in-person program. To be considered for the awards, you must have a completed application submitted to the in-person program by May 1. The awards include two $5,000 awards from the National Western Stock Show and two $1,500 awards from Friends of the Western Center. Awards are made on the basis of GPA, recommendation letters, and agricultural leadership potential.
- WICHE Program: The IRM program is part of a unique program that provides in-state tuition rates to students in specific Western US states. The WICHE (http://www.wiche.edu/ <http://www.wiche.edu/SEP/WRGP/handout06-08.pdf> ) program is not based on financial need. It supplies in-state tuition rates to students who have established residency in one of these states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. To qualify for the program, students need to apply for the in-person version of our program and have established residency in one of the qualifying states.

- Loans: Inquire about loans through Colorado State University’s Student Financial Services Office http://sfs.colostate.edu/.
Applicants often ask about the costs of the program. For the in-person IRM program, costs are determined by whether you are an in-state or out-of-state student. See this chart (http://registrar.colostate.edu/pdf/graduate-base-tuition-and-fees.pdf) for a list of current tuition and fees. Distance students pay a flat rate ( $1,482 in 2010) per course regardless of whether students are in-state or out-of-state. Click here (http://www.learn.colostate.edu/answers/tuition-fees.dot) for current tuition rates. Some additional fees apply for distance education students beyond the fee for each course.
